CAVE is coming to Steam

Degica just announced that CAVE is coming to steam. The first game to be released is yet unknown, but Blackbird on the Shmups forum wrote:

“Well. I didn’t think we were going to announce this quite so quickly, but here we are. Shin is one of my co-workers, and this announcement is for real. CAVE is developing a game for PC. Without giving away too much, it’s a real arcade game and a fan favorite, so you can put your fears of bad mobile ports or freemium games aside. You can expect the same level of high quality seen in our other shooters like Crimzon Clover and XIIZeal.”

My “wild guess” would be Mushihimesama or Mushihimesama Futari 1.5.

The Complete History Of CAVE Arcade Games That Were Never Sold

Muchi Muchi Spork from the Shmups forum just released his updated video about CAVE games that never made it to the shelf.

A message from Masa-King

In a post on the CAVE WORLD Official Blog on Friday last week Masa-King regrettably informs that both their English Twitter account, CAVE World (EN), and blog will be shut down on February 28th. From March on news and other information will only be published in Japanese.

While the blog/twitter account is aimed at their smartphone games, this combined with the lack of distribution of newer console releases  to the West and release of their latest smartphone title, Donpaccin, only in Japan suggests that CAVE is retracting from the Western markets to focus solely on the domestic market. Maybe not a surprising move but a sad one nonetheless.
